The choice of terms demonstrates that a significant part of vocabulary in this field has been borrowed, almost entirely from English. This fact is connected with the European sports history in the 19th century and the formation of professional sports (not analyzed in detail), as well as with the emergence of sports clubs and the formation of sports rules and regulations concerning the organization of competitions.

Niektóre konceptualizacje uczuć w wypowiedziach dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym (na przykładzie czasownika lubić) Wójcik, Paulina The study tries to analyze several texts’ conceptualizations of some personal forms of the verb like, regarding emotions and feelings. It allows to take a look on methodological issues related with ability to name and express “inexpressible” things. Material for the analysis was provided by the Children Know Better programme, broadcasted on the Third Programme of the Polish Radio and moderated by Katarzyna Stoparczyk. The analysis proved that it is necessary to prepare a description of expressions of feelings and emotions, including a detailed indication of their function in different expression types.

Terminologia żeglarska w szesnastowiecznych pamiętnikach pielgrzymów i podróżników Walczak, Bogdan The paper is a collection of reflections formulated during the study of Middle and New Polish diaries as sources for the history of the Polish language. The most interesting conclusion that follows from the material presented concerns the knowledge of the 16th-century nautical terminology. Despite its hermetic nature, it was familiar not only to professionals (Krzysztof Pawłowski), but also to quite numerous travellers, pilgrims and other world curious people of the time. Jan Goryński and Mikołaj Radziwiłł Sierotka provide the evidence of a relatively high competence in the field of marine, sailing and nautical terminology, questioning the stereotype of old Poles as being a nation of landsmen.

Etiologia jąkania wczesnodziecięcego Tarkowski, Zbigniew; Humeniuk, Ewa; Dunaj, Jolanta There exist a number of theories which attempt to explain the causes of early childhood stuttering. Biological theories assume that it is either hereditary or results from immaturity of the central nervous system. Another biological trend claims that stuttering causes are to be found in temperament. Psychological theories state that stuttering comes from negative emotions, and mainly from fear. Linguistic theories are focused on speech disfluency as identified with stuttering and search for its causes in the very speech act. They assume that early childhood stuttering is a consequence of difficulties a child has with mastering the language. Multifactor theories do not concentrate on any single factor but try to explain the complex nature of early childhood stuttering as consisting of linguistic, biological, psychological and social elements. One can say that they attempt to reconcile all the previously listed ideas.
