Cader, Halina
The article considers the original project of five drawing classes with the comments on these
classes. The project was realised by a group of students in the third year who specialise in Art
Education, supervised by the assistant professor Halina Cader in 1994/95.
The project Metadrawing concerned drawing as an interdisciplinary technique, with emphasis
on its initiative and conceptual character.
Four of the classes mentioned above are provided with a commentary concerning the notion
off the actual art. The fifth class was a summary of the whole project.
The cycle of the Metadrawing classes is an attempt to establish a function and context of
drawing in the art of the nineteen nineties, as well as an attempt at the artistic interpretation of
the word metadrawing.

Panasiewicz, Adam
The text elaborates on the problem of the independence of analog and digital graphic art in
the context of the traditions of printing techniques, but also in the confrontation with the development
of graphic techniques using new technologies. The author reflects upon the problems
of redefining the notion of “graphic art” confronted with the mass culture and the informational
society.
It is a subjective vision of the author – the technical graphic artist himself, who does make
use of the digital technology in his own artistic work. Admitting that the huge impact digital media
have made on the shape of contemporary graphic art, the author notices that graphic technologies
differ more in the context of the idea of graphic art than in its aesthetic level.

Sajduk, Marek
The way of looking, seeing will never be the same as they were before photography was
discovered. A similar revolution with our way of thinking may happen: that would be because
of the hypertextual structure of the content present in new media. Through their specificity, attraction,
submissiveness, the possibility of the simultaneous influence on different senses and
spheres of sensitivity, modern media technologies change the essence of transmission. They
interfere in the essense of the work. Of course, it does not happen without consequences. Winning
the undoubtedly attractive, artificial, “virtual” space, we lose irretrievably all the beauty of
the real object-work, its uniqueness and materiality. Art based on the specificity of new media
does not resemble art as it is understood traditionally. It is neither painting nor graphic art, music
or literature. Trying to achieve its own shape, it makes use of tools of communication with an
unprecedented scope and efficiency.
The media revolution has undoubtedly had a big impact on the development and the level
of the culture in societies. It has also been a challenge for the people occupied with education
in its broad sense. I see these challenges taking on a powerful, educational function played by
the commercially minded media transmission, geared mostly towards commerciality instead of
creating positive attitudes which would have a high quality social and personal impact.
