The article describes the way of understanding work of intellectually disabled people in the L’Arche Foundation, &#13;
the community in Śledziejowice where assistants live and cooperate with disabled people. The authors of the article &#13;
try to describe the unique, characteristic attitude towards the issue of working with the intellectual disability, &#13;
which stands out in the environment of associations and foundations for disabled people.&#13;
The Christian spirituality, interpersonal relations, versatile development and the dignity of other people are the &#13;
foundations for assisting disabled people in their professional development.&#13;
Opinions of people with intellectual disability presented in the article are evidence of their struggle with the &#13;
difficulties of life, their own disability and a desire to achieve the status of an employee.

The article deals with the specificity of the functioning of people with multiple disabilities.&#13;
It presents definitions of multiple disabilities, their specificity and diversity. It also discusses the problems &#13;
of the intellectual, emotional, motivational and social sphere. The analysis of the research of reference books &#13;
points to the problem of functioning of disabled adults, difficulties related to the simplest life situations &#13;
connected with general resourcefulness, social acceptance and functioning in social roles.&#13;
Centres for People with Special Needs and local support systems play an invaluable role in the process of preparing &#13;
such people for independence. These centres help disabled people to develop their inborn abilities and to overcome &#13;
their own limitations and difficulties.&#13;
The article presents the Centre for People with Special Needs in Sarzyna, discusses the aims of the Centre, &#13;
functioning methods and the system of support for disabled people.

<summary type="text">Problemy w organizacji dziennego wsparcia dla dorosłych osób z głęboką, wieloraką niepełnosprawnością po zakończeniu edukacji

The article presents the problems that adults with profound multiple disabilities have to struggle with after &#13;
finishing education. They face a barrier of the lack of places for people with considerable functional problems at &#13;
Occupational Therapy Workshops and in Centres for People with Special Needs.&#13;
In order to provide the better understanding of the issue, the article presents three adults with profound multiple &#13;
disabilities whose families experienced the abovementioned problem. In spite of numerous adversities they managed &#13;
to find a place for their sons/daughters in a daily care centre which is adjusted to working with people with &#13;
severe multiple disabilities.&#13;
In the further part, the article presents the functioning of the Rehabilitation and Support Centre for Adults with &#13;
Profound Multiple Disabilities run by the Christian Association of Disabled People as a project institution &#13;
supporting adults with severe multiple disabilities. It also presents the process of establishing the institution &#13;
and a brief overview of activities in which the participants take part during their stay in the Support Centre.&#13;
The final part of the article describes problems that bother the participants, their families and indirectly also &#13;
the employees of the Centre and refer to the lack of permanent and stable source of financing the activity of the &#13;
Support Centre.

An educational experiment that was undertaken in Gdańsk tests efficiency of solutions recommended by single &#13;
projects undertaken in that field by various entities and the possibility of adapting solutions introduced by other &#13;
countries, France in particular.&#13;
The main aim of the experiment is the development of an integrated model of lower secondary school education for &#13;
disabled people that would be oriented on individual development of the student’s potential and increasing his or &#13;
her chances for fuller engagement in the social and professional life, with the use of innovative programme and &#13;
organizational solutions.&#13;
The experiment assumes an organization of a model of special lower secondary school education in three paths: path &#13;
A – addressed to disabled and chronic adolescents with particular focus on adolescents with mild mental &#13;
retardation; path B – addressed to people with special educational needs, with moderate and severe disability who &#13;
need preparation for working in auxiliary professions; patch C – addressed to people with mild, severe and profound &#13;
mental retardation with co-occurring multiple disabilities.&#13;
The experiment is monitored on the basis of data during a four-year process of education. The conclusions resulting &#13;
from the evaluation of the Education with an outlook for the future experiment will be published after it has been &#13;
finished – in December 2012 (according to the schedule).
