Wpływ promieniowania ultrafioletowego UV-A na konsumpcję tlenu przez larwy ropuchy szarej (Bufo bufo L.) w różnych okresach rozwojowych
Formicki, Grzegorz
The effects of ambient UV-A radiation (Cracow district, Poland, 50°04'N, 19°57'E; 220 m a.s.l.) on general
metabolism was studied in gray toad tadpoles (Bufo bufo L.). General metabolism was measured as oxygen
consumption at rest. Measurements were taken in tadpoles during premetamorphosis and prometamorphosis. Applied
radiation caused significant increases in oxygen consumption in young tadpoles (premetamorphosis). On the other
hand tadpoles exposed to UV-A radiation during the period of prometamorphosis significantly decreased their
metabolic rate. These results suggest that ambient levels of UV-A radiation affect the metabolic rate of gray
toad larvae living in shallow habitats. This phenomenon may increase the susceptibility of larvae to predation
and ecologically relevant pathogens. The mechanism of action of UV-A on general metabolism in tadpoles is
discussed.

Plastyczność instynktu larw Scolioneura betuleti Klug (Hymenoptera, Tenthredinidae)
Bierca, Bożena
The larvae S. betuleti leaf-mine the lives of different species of birches (Betula spp.) and green alders (Alnus
viridis Chaix).
During the research on the biology of the larva stage of S.betuleti, the flexibility of the instinct of larvae
was also studied regarding the possibilities of continuation of the development after transferring to the leaf-
mine from the last stage formed by other species of the saw- fly in the leaf Betula pendula Roth, and Alnus
glutinosa Gaertn. Before transferring the larva S.betuleti to the mine - the farmer inhabitant was removed.
The larvae S.betuleti transferred to the top mines Fenusa pus ilia Lepeletier and Messa nana Klug in the leaves
B.pendula carried on the feeding creating reversible mine. It was also similar to transferring to the mine
Heterarthus vagans Fallen in the leaf A.glutinosa in the natural environment S.betuleti does not feed on this
plant, only on A.viridis, in all experiments the larvae finished the feeding and abandoned the mines in order to
transfer into the pupae.
The experiments show the flexibility of the instinct of the larvae although their further fate is not known.

Identyfikacja rośliniarek Hemichroa australis Lep. i Hemichroa crocea Geoff. (Hymenoptera, Tenthredinidae) na podstawie cech morfologiczno-biologicznych
Sołtyk, Danuta
This study presents the information which allowed the identification of two symphytan species, Hemichroa
australis Lep. and H. crocea Geoff., in the natural environment. Morphological and biological characteristics
useful in their identification, e.g., larval and adult coloration, as well as characteristics of seasonal
development, egg laying and feeding by larvae are described.

Wystąpienie Pseudaulacaspis pentagona Targ.-Tozz. na materiale roślinnym importowanym do Polski
Dziedzicka, Anna; Karnkowski, Witold
The authors describe the species Pseudaulacaspis pentagona Targ-Tozz. collected from the kiwi fruits and jasmine
(Philadelphus sp.) sprouts imported to Poland in 1998.
This species is a dangerous past of many cultivated and decorative plants. In this paper the morphology as well
as biology at this species is presented in order to facilitate for other researches it’s identification what, in
turn, should help to 1 imitate any possible threat for crops.
