<title>Kategoria protagonizmu w twórczości senioralnej Mariana Pankowskiego</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11716/9691</link>
<description>Kategoria protagonizmu w twórczości senioralnej Mariana Pankowskiego
Burnatowski, Jan
This paper is an attempt at a new viewing of Marian Pankowski’s prose, and in particular, of the senior works. The starting point is the category of protagonism, which functions as an invariable in the great majority of Pankowski’s epic texts. The superior status of protagonism also allows for the issue of subjectivity, which serves the attempt to diagnose the character, revealing itself throughout the texts of subjectivity (literary traces of personality).

<title>Językowy dialog z tradycją w Barbarze Radziwiłłównie z Jaworzna-Szczakowej Michała Witkowskiego</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11716/9690</link>
<description>Językowy dialog z tradycją w Barbarze Radziwiłłównie z Jaworzna-Szczakowej Michała Witkowskiego
Jochymek, Renata
In “Barbara Radziwillowna”, Michał Witkowski uses typization, which is the intensity of features and extreme conventionalization of all elements of the presented world. This attitude is used to create a better relationship with the recipient. It continuosly relates to the kitsch and introduces quotation and quasi-quotation to the main character’s monologue.&#13;
Hubert Z. is a simpleton who has got only one dream – to be a rich man. The hero is apparently a mysterious person. The Comparison to Barbara Radziwillowna allows him to present himself as a Romantic unhappy lover, who recites Romantic poems of the 19th century. He is fascinated with the treasures brought to his pawnshop, which create a specific world order.&#13;
It results in the mythologization and mythicization of the outer. Hubert tries to be a component of the reality, but he does not suit it. Maybe this is because Witkowski, saving his hero from outgrowing, uses the poetics of scandal an creates the ironic and a real person.

<title>Wobec odmienności. Lubiewo Michała Witkowskiego</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11716/9689</link>
<description>Wobec odmienności. Lubiewo Michała Witkowskiego
Marszałek, Wacław
The article deals with the category of sexual diversity and presents gay literature from this perspective. The author differentiates between gay literary creation (gay and lesbian literature) and the inherent homoerotism of the text. The article concentrates on the novel by Michał Witkowski entitled “Lubiewo”, which is regarded as a milestone in the Polish literature dealing with diversity. For the first time the camp aesthetics is so clearly and completely incorporated into the poetics of a text. Up till now, Polish literature, as it is visible in texts by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz or Julian Stryjkowski, has been permeated with sublimation and rarely talked about sexual issues clearly and openly.&#13;
The article also discusses the question of disgust and repulsion that can be evoked by literature which shocks with the obscenity and perverse behaviour. It is shown that examining even the most aberrant cases of human behaviour can only enrich the synthetic image of the truth about man. In the novel, the presentation of the subject suggests that it should be placed in the sphere of the “abject” – Julia Kristeva’a “pomiot” – of the subjectivity, which contains what is socially unacceptable: impurity, wickedness, and hideousness; which evokes both abomination and fascination.

<title>Poziomy rzeczywistości w powieści Anny Janko Dziewczyna z zapałkami</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/11716/9688</link>
<description>Poziomy rzeczywistości w powieści Anny Janko Dziewczyna z zapałkami
Wądolny-Tatar, Katarzyna
Anna Janko’s “Dziewczyna z zapałkami” is an example of a popular antinomy: the expressible – the inexpressible. It also matches the dialectics of trace and presence. The division into two levels of reality reflects the shape and character of the presented world, the composition and the semantic structure of the novel, which deals with reality transformed by literature and their mutual presence in the limits of “the other” sphere. Two levels of reality, in which the main character functions, are drawn: the biographical level, which registers her existence (or autobiographical, if we intend to confront the events of the plot with the facts of the author’s life; Anna Janko is a pseudonym, used by the writer since her debut in the 1970s, thus she plays with her biography, suggesting autobiography) and the auto-thematic level, of the prose on producing prose, on the need of reinforcing the reality and oneself. The status&#13;
of the narrator changes, it is forged and forging at the same time, and literature functions not only as a novel created inside a novel, or notes that form it, but also as (described) traces&#13;
of reading (also multiple reading of one’s own notes), contacts with writers, and knowledge&#13;
of the history of literature. The main character incessantly believes in the power of words, and uses it to describe the reality, expecting the consequences of her action, a “real destruction”, and some kind of “finality”, just like Andersen’s matchgirl, the title reference.&#13;
Polarization of the levels forms the antinomy of spheres: the everyday existence and creation are as action and reflection, dynamics and statics, noise and silence. Their dialectics may lead to observations on the evasive character of creative work and the invasive character of the existence: in comparison with everyday existence, creation is evasive and, on the contrary, literary creation is invaded by everyday existence. The poetics of negative worlds, revealed in the novel, determines the strategy of reading it.
