Blog biblioteczny współczesną formą promocji biblioteki akademickiej: na przykładzie „Bibliodziennika”
Janas, Magdalena; Mól, Katarzyna
A modern university library needs to employ new tools and methods of communication in order to meet the information
requirements of the users. The necessity of a quick access to information led our library to utilize various forms
of promotion in order to create its positive image. One of such forms of promotion is a library blog which
constitutes a perfect source of information on issues connected with books, libraries and digitalization. An
example of the use of a blog in a library may be Bibliodziennik – the blog of the Main Library of the Pedagogical
University designed to increase the quality of work and to reach active and potential users of the library.

Szkolony student – potencjalny klient
Folga, Agnieszka; Kołakowska, Joanna
The article is based on a survey conducted among 1257 students of the Pedagogical University of Cracow in the
academic year 2010/2011. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of library trainings and their
impact on further possibility of using the library as well as to show the usefulness of the trainings in library
promotion. According to the authors of the article one of the most important tasks of library promotion is to
reduce the gap between the librarian and the user through a direct contact. Thanks to this obligatory form of
training students can be convinced to use the library. This kind of direct contact may be regarded as a form of
„personal selling” and a recommendation of the services offered by the library.

„Nie trzeba wyczerpywać całego tematu. Wystarczy przebudzić myśl”. Polskie czasopisma popularnonaukowe o profilu humanistycznym w latach 1945–1989 – zarys problemu
Zając, Renata M.
Popularization of Polish science and technological achievements was one of the postulates of
the Party in the Polish People’s Republic. An important link in this activity was a number of
popular-scientific periodicals. The article presents the development of the humanist journals,
which constituted the most numerous group among the specialized-content magazines
published in Poland in years 1945–1989. In the article, 26 such periodicals are described.

Dokumenty polskojęzyczne w kolekcji eBooks and Texts serwisu Internet Archive

Dokumenty polskojęzyczne w kolekcji eBooks and Texts serwisu Internet Archive
Górski, Michał; Tomkiewicz, Łukasz; Wajda, Grzegorz
Internet Archive, an ambitious project by Brewster Kahle, seems to be one of the more
interesting bottom-up initiatives, not connected directly with government financing.
Although this multi-format archive is known in Poland mainly through archiving old
versions of websites from all over the world, one must not forget that its mission is
also to gather ebooks and other written texts, sound and visual files, as well as old
software versions for various platforms. Among petabytes of archived data there are
over 11 million various texts in digital version (in comparison, the Digital Libraries
Federation library comprises over 4 million digital objects), of which over 10 million
is free to access. The archive resources include mainly texts written in English (over
8.6 million), but there are also examples of texts in most known languages. Texts in
Polish comprise a group of almost six thousand.
The article aims at propagating the idea of spreading knowledge within the Internet
Archive project. It describes documents in Polish from the eBooks and Texts collection,
as well as the Open Library service, together with the Bookserver platform, thanks to
which it is possible to rent digital copies of copyrighted texts.
