The present article aims at presenting the main ideas of the book and more importantly to pinpoint those elements that contribute to its originality. Even though Historie florenckie focus mainly on showing the most important works of art of Tuscany’s capital, in their descriptions a vital role is played by identifying the relationship between a piece of art and a human, between culture and society in which it is created. The interaction between human and art appears to be the most interesting aspect of the book. The author mixes accounts from travels to places affected by the disaster, interviews with experts on various aspects of the phenomenon and thought on cultural methods of taming the constant threat. One of the main characters of the text is Luca Cari, a spokesperson for Italian fire department and civil-protection services who accompanies the author in his travels Mikołajewski’s book is one of the very few Polish publications that do not replicate the stereotypical view on the Italians. It is also an important base for a discussion on the relationship of Poles towards the Mediterranean culture. Prze-pisywanie literatury Holocaustu (Warsaw 2013). It is setting out selected aspects of traversing of the researcher from Szczecin by considering the status of testimony literature. Also there is an emphasis put on the phenomenon of profiling using forms of utterances in Holocaust discourse. The article shows two distinct strategies (analyzed by Wolski) of automodeling of writers’ own utterances: “towards” (Tadeusz Borowski) and “according to” (Primo Levi) preferred model of testimony shaped under the influence of contemporary public debate.
