The European dimension of safety online - the directions of the international programmes to strenghten the safety of children and teenagers on the Internet

Abstract

Satisfying the need of safety is particularly important in the process of socialisation of children and teenagers. The need of creating a safe and friendly environment online has recently emerged due to the fact that more and more under-aged use the Internet on daily basis. This article presents all the activities undertaken by the UE that are directed to detect and fight against illegal content and illegal activities online. The author also points out all the essential projects and gathered data in the field of child seduction online as well as the projects which aim at preventing and detecting such practices. The article also shows the activities that raise awareness on the safe usage of the Internet and cell phones. Its assumption is to equip our children and teenagers with all the abilities and digital tools crucial for being safe in the digital world.
