The modern system of education gives high priority to natural outdoor activities, as a valuable form of teaching and learning. Outdoor activities are a form of organization of the educational process, which is of great educational values. Analyzing the core curriculum for the second stage of education on the subject Nature (2009) it is obvious that fieldwork helps to achieve proper knowledge, attitude and abilities. And above all outdoor activities build the environmental awareness of pupils. Material and methods: pedagogical observation, experiment, didactical measurement, document analysis, statistical methods. The research material was collected during the observation of outdoor teaching conducted during a series of classes of zoology. Observations were performed in two experimental classes and two control classes on 10-11 years old children. Results were analyzed on the basis of tests attainment. The total number of pupils participating in the study was 110. During fieldwork sessions students are acknowledged with various elements of knowledge relating, for example, to biodiversity, but they also gain practical knowledge about numerous plant and animal species, as well as about plant and animal communities. They can also observe interdependencies within the natural environment and the behaviour of animals in their natural habitats.
