Źródła do badań nad historią epidemii i profilaktyki przeciwepidemicznej w miastach na przykładzie Krakowa i Lwowa w XIX wieku

Abstract

The article collects, analyses and characterizes the most important sources for the research of epidemic history and anti-epidemic measures in cities, exemplified by Krakow and Lviv in the 19th century. Basically, we deal with materials created by self-governmental institutions and offices subordinate to them. Apart from documents, the key role is played by statistical materials and reports created by physicians and municipal doctors. A closer observation of the issue leads to a conclusion that they constitute invaluable materials to investigate the problems mentioned in the title, but can also be used for other purposes, such as research on the living conditions of citizens, including ethnic and religious minority representatives living in the two cities (especially Jews).
