Parents may, and should, have control over the access to undesirable content that children and youth may have while using the Internet. Unattended, children may not even be aware of the fact that they have come across some content of negative influence. To prevent this, parents can overtly or covertly control whether children access certain internet content while they are not present. Below, we describe several methods which can be used in controlling undesirable content access. Depending on the needs of the user, undesirable content may be blocked in four ways: – Undesirable content is defined by the users – parents – themselves. – Undesirable content is defined by a computer programme. – Undesirable actions of the child using the computer are monitored, and the selected sites are blocked by the parents. – Undesirable content is blocked by a computer programme, which at the same time monitors all actions of the computer user.en
