Abstract

Capitalism is often equated with the most effective functioning allocation system today in the world. However, its effectiveness is linked to efficiency implemented economic policy, which may take various forms. Modern Economic policy is the science of economics that can be used to understand ways influence the state on the economy. As with all activities, also in the case of economic policy is geared to achieving the set goals. The most important goals economic policies are related to economic and social goals. The purpose of the article was to show the current economic and social condition of the Lodz region. Region Łódź is a specific example on the administrative map of Poland. The article discusses economic situation of the Łódź Voivodeship. The main development measures were analyzed economic, business development and entrepreneurship. The work was characterized also the current social situation of Łódź and the region. Demographic and infrastructure problems were described. The indicators related to the standard of living were analyzed. The publication was made also attempts to assess the future economic and social situation. Main indicated directions of changes and necessary actions. The thesis was based on the assumption that the Łódź region did not uses appropriately the current potential to achieve economic and social goals. The current situation requires major changes. The article was based on compact book materials, magazines and statistical data. The research method used the publication included statistical analysis and literary criticism. Test results positive verified the thesis.
