The article discusses intergenerational conflicts, their causes and classification. The term of family intergenerational conflict refers to certain relations between family members, which are generated by the contradictions of family development and functioning as a system. The author emphasizes that the causes of intergenerational family conflicts depend not only on the personal and family characteristics of the parties to the conflict, but also on a number of social prerequisites. The article also notes that the most important and significant is not only the description and characterization of the causes of conflicts and their classification, but also the disclosure of the mechanism that underlies the emergence of the conflicts. This mechanism, according to the author, is the mechanism of interaction between ambitions and acknowledgements, both within and between generations.en
