The comparison of the calculated dynamic responses of typical, high-rise, prefabricated residential buildings subjected to some measured paraseismic-type excitations (mine-induced tremors) modelled in two ways, is presented in this paper. The focus is on the horizontal vibrations. In the first case of computations, the spatial character of excitation was taken into account by simultaneously applying the both components of excitations in directions parallel to the transverse and longitudinal axis of the building. Whereas in the second case, excitation was modelled in a simplified way, i.e. the building’s response was calculated on the basis of excitation applied separately only in one of the two directions considered. The calculations were carried out using the finite element method in the Ansys program.en
