Abstract

The paper discusses the global economy: historical, geographical and economic factors which contributed to its creation as well as the main determinants of its growth. What is the place of the EU in the global economy? – this is the leading research question posed by the author. In an attempt to find the answer, the author establishes what role the EU plays is in the following areas of global economy: global production, global commerce, technological progress, research and development expenditure, various economic projects and initiatives.
