The aim of this article is to discuss and interpret the functioning of post-truth in language, together with proving the research hypothesis that it is a cognitive category that resultsfrom the properties of judgements, thoughts, beliefs, based on transtextual operations carried out before or on the basis ofthem, rather than on selected elements of knowledge about reality. The research problem is whether post-truth is a real existing phenomenon occurring in social practice, e.g. in the sphere ofthe application of law, or whether these are merely textual games resulting from the interaction of two or more texts, in some cases multiple texts-discourses about texts-discourses (metatexts) in their "genre-scape", interpénétration and intertwining ofthe contents and meanings contained in them often relativised in terms of their correspondence to reality, facts and values.en
