Szlacheckie zainteresowanie jeździectwem i żywymi kolekcjami w XVIII w. w świetle wybranych regestrów pośmiertnych

Abstract

W artykule przedstawiono analizę wybranych XVIII-wiecznych szlacheckich rejestrów pośmiertnych, w których odnotowano inwentarz stajni i wyposażenie jeździeckie. Celem analizy było rozważenie pojmowania stadnin jako specyficznych żywych kolekcji w odwołaniu do definiowania kolekcji Krzysztofa Pomiana i pojęcia semioforu. Pytania badawcze skoncentrowano przede wszystkim na kryteriach wyróżniających powstanie stada rozumianego jako kolekcja. Z uwagi na to, że o wartości „żywej kolekcji” koni świadczył również osprzęt jeździecki podjęto próbę jego opisania pod względem ilościowym, ale jakościowym, zwracając uwagę na stan użytkowania i walory estetyczne. Analiza materiału wykazała, że utrzymanie koni, takich jak konie użytkowe, a tym bardziej systematycznie zarządzanego i powiększanego stada, wymagało znacznego potencjału finansowego i dopiero wtedy mogło przynieść korzyści, które przekładały się na tworzenie stada interesującego pod względem estetycznym, które można by określić mianem kolekcji.

The article analyzes selected eighteenth-century noble posthumous registers, in which inven-tories of stables and riding equipment were recorded. It considers the understanding of stud farms as specific living collections in reference to Krzysztof Pomian’s definition of collections and the concept of semiophore. In particular, the criteria distinguishing the creation of a herd understood as a collection are addressed. Due to the fact that the value of the “living collection” of horses also stemmed from that of the riding equipment, it is described quantitatively but also qualitatively, paying attention to the state of use and aesthetic features. The analysis of the mate-rial showed that maintaining horses, such as utility horses, and even more so a systematically managed and enlarged herd, required significant financial potential. Only then could it bring benefits that translated into the creation of an aesthetically interesting herd, which could be described as a collection.
