Przemiany tożsamości na przykładzie Ukraińców Podlasia

Abstract

W artykule autor stara się pokazać proces komplikowania się struktur narodowych oraz ewolucji tożsamości narodowej na obszarze pogranicza w warunkach postępujących przemian politycznych, społecznych i kulturowych jakie dotknęły te tereny na przestrzeni ostatnich kilkudziesięciu lat. Podmiotem tych przemian jest ludność dzisiaj określająca się jako mniejszość ukraińska w województwie podlaskim lub, jak mówią sami o sobie, „Ukraińcy Podlasia”. W przeciągu ostatnich dziesięcioleci ta ludność podlegała ogromnym i znamiennym przemianom świadomościowo-tożsamościowym, które najczęściej wynikały i łączyły się ze zmianami w sferze geopolitycznej regionu. Warto jest prześledzić szlak jaki przeszła ewolucja tożsamości narodowej mniejszości ukraińskiej w województwie podlaski i jednocześnie stwierdzić, że ów proces jeszcze się nie zakończył. Artykuł został napisany na podstawie badań własnych, jak i badań naukowych prowadzonych w przeszłości przez historyków i językoznawców dotyczących terenów dzisiejszego województwa podlaskiego. Dynamiczny byt narodowy jakim jest mniejszość ukraińska w województwie podlaskim bardzo dobrze ukazuje w jaki sposób, pod wpływem jakich czynników, wydarzeń i w jakim kierunku może zmieniać się obraz narodowościowy danego regionu oraz tożsamość etniczna i narodowa danej grupy.

In the article the author attempts to present the process of national structures complication and national identity evolution on the borderlands area in the conditions of the ongoing political, social and cultural changes that these areas have experienced in the past several dozen years. The subject of these changes is the population nowadays calling itself the Ukrainian minority in the Podlasie voivodeship, or as they call themselves, the „Podlasie Ukrainians”. In the past decades this population has undergone great and critical consciousness and identity changes which were most often the result of, and connected to, the changes in the geopolitical sphere of the region. It is interesting to track the evolution of the Ukrainian national identity in the Podlasie voivodeship and at the same time discover that this process is not over yet. This article is based on both the two turns of own research and the scientific research conducted in the past by historians and linguists on the lands of today’s Podlasie voivodeship. The dynamic national being of the Ukrainian minority in the Podlasie voivodeship very clearly presents how, under what factors, events and in which direction can both the national picture of the given region and the ethnic and national identity of a given group change.
