The measure of a democratic society is the proper functioning of its civil
society, founded on the maturity and responsibility of citizens caring for
the proper functioning of all sectors. The goal of the article is to present
the dynamics of changes in Poland’s civil society, a democratic society
whose citizens in the last decade (within selected sectors of Pole’s activities)
are participating in 3 main areas: the social participation of Poles,
i.e. Poles participating in political life in 2007–2017; civil social policy,
i.e. the active work of non-governmental organizations, social economic
entities; and other bottom-up projects serving the needs of citizens. In
addition, the results of research on the political activity of Polish society
were presented, especially their voter turnout at the level of local government
elections and presidential elections, including Poles’ commitments
supporting local communities. Everything is described in the framework
of using social capital and its elements, i.e. social trust and responsibility
for the common good.
