dc.description.abstract | Whether the guarantee of international safety may be a single power’s (the USA) military potential or perhaps the
power of an international alliance turned out to be a vital question in the concepts of missile defence which
disunited both the NATO members and other states as well. The evolution of the concepts of missile defence
construction, from the American proposals to those suggested by the NATO, points to the advantage of
multilateralism over the unilateral conceptions realized during the first presidency of G.W. Bush. Poland, as an
ally of the USA, turns out to be an important partner in the missile defence design, which continues within the
NATO structures, now taking into account the increasing role played by the E U in the sphere of security. | en_EN |
