dc.description.abstract | The present publication is the second part of a doctor dissertation. The first part will be published in
"Fragmenta Floristica et Geobotanica", under the title: "The Geobotanical Character of the Pogórze Cieszyńskie".
The territory investigated extends between the Upper Vistula and the Olza river, north of the Silesian Beskids in
the Western Carpations.
Herbarium specimens of the plants, 1878 in number, are deposited in the Herbarium of the Botanical Department
of the Cracov Teachers' Training College. Natural habitats were recorded on the studied area. The number of
collected herbarium specimens and the recorded habitats amounted to 7300.
The nomenclature and the systematic arrangement were chiefly based on the work of SZAFER, KULCZYŃSKI, and PAWŁOWSKI
(1953). In exceptional cases the names used in the "Flora Polska" (vol. I-IX, 1919-1963) were accepted, when they
differed from the work mentioned above.
All the vascular plants found in the area investigated have been taken in to consideration, those growing wild as
well as the synanthropic; in edition those given by previous authors dealing with the flora of the Cieszyn Hills,
when the stands have nor now been confirmed in the course of the present work. When species were given by other
authors, there is a special note in the list beginning with "Podawany :....." ("reported by ..."), followed by an
abbreviation of the author's name, the name of the locality, and the year of publication.
When reporting the stands, the names of the localities were coded (see page 110). When there is a large number
of stands, only a few localities exemplifying the occurrence of the particular taxon are given. Also, if there
are two or more stands in one locality, this locality is only mentioned once. | en_EN |
