The article deals with two structures of genre typology which were disseminated in Russian literature in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries and were represented by a number of literary works of the Romantic Age. The first of these structures the author of the article proposes to define by the term heroic short story; he points out its classicist nature and its affinity with the heroic poem. The author includes into this genre N. Karamzin’s short story "Marpha posadnica" and W. Küchelbecker’s story "Ado". The second genre variety examined in the article is the lyrical short story. The author’s suggestion is that this term should be applied to works like V. Levshin’s "A Lover’s Mornings", Y. Galinkovsky’s "Hours of Meditation", A. Radishchev’s "Memoirs of One Week", as well as to a masterpiece of Russian Romantic prose, A. Bestuzhev-Marlinsky’s short story "He Was Killed". On analysing Küchelbecker’s short story "Ado" the author sets forth his hypothesis that it was one of the sources of inspiration for Adam Mickiewicz’s poem "Konrad Wallenrod".en_EN
