dc.description.abstractThe article consist of five chapters, each dealing with a particular method of language teaching, applied experimentally in different schools in Poland of the inter-war period and commented upon in the publications of those concerned with the methods of teaching. The five chapters of the article present, respectively: 1) The application of Daltonian system in modern language teaching; 2) Guided work during modern language lessons; 3) Collective work during modern language lessons; 4) The sketch and problems method; 5) Modern language teaching by the extensive-reading method. The author of the article analyses both the theoretical views of methodologists who backed up or rejected the particular methodological experiments, and the results of the application of these experiments in Polish schools.en_EN
