Materiały do znajomości pory godowej ropuchy szarej (Bufo Bufo L.)

Abstract

The research was carried in the years 1962 to 1968 at Staniątki, a willage situated on the south-western outskirts of the Niepołomice Forest, on sexually mature specimens of grey toad /Bufo bufo L.). Special attention has been devoted to the mating period of this speaies of amphibian, the authors having examined in this period the morphometric aspects of the toad population present in one pond - the mating place of the species, as well as the time at which the toads leave their wintering place, their nuptial migrations and the mating period itself. The study comprised also the condition of ovaries and oviducts, and the number of ovules produced by the grey toad females. Finally, the amount of water in male and female organisms during the mating period of this variety of toad was examined.
