dc.description.abstract | The object of the author’s research has been to analyse the progress of urbanization in the villages round Cracow.
Upon examining the differences within the network of rural settlements, the changes in the structure of the
population, the increase in the number of non-farming population in villages throughout the District of Cracow, the
author discusses the course of the urbanization processes in eight selected villages round Cracow, from 1960 through
1968.
Dependent on the intensity of some chosen indices of professional and space urbanization, the author has tried to
distinguish three phases of urbanization for the examined villages.
Thus, she assumes as the firsts phase of village urbanization (basic grade) a farreaching professional urbanization
(according to the established indices).
As the second phase of urbanization, she admits, apart from professional urbanization, advancement in the process of
remodelling the technical infrastructure, together with transport junctures, as well as advancement in the
physiognomic-special remodelling.
The third phase of urbanization (the highest) will be distinguished, apart from the previous characteristics, also
by the disappearance or a very strong reduction of the physiognomic and functional features of a farming village and
by its obtaining of the legal status of a town. | en_En |
