Uwagi o systemie słowotwórczym języka (na marginesie prac G. Zienkowa)

Abstract

The paper discusses, against the background of so far published studies in the paradigm of the Slavonic languages, G. Zenkov’s views expressed in his numerous articles and in his book The Problems of the Theory of Word-Formation. These views are concerned with the word-formative functional unit as well as with the system structure of word- formation. Zenkov finds such a word-formative unit in a derivatem, analogical to a phonem and other functional units of the remaining linguistic levels. He constructs the model of the language derivative system out of the larger units, which he defines not by a common formative but by a common word-formation base. According to the author’s opinion, Zenkov’s word-formation theory deserves attention because of his interesting attempt to construct a derivative system based upon new theoretical principles, an attempt to connect by similar functional units all the levels of a language and to integrate them.
