Abstract

The introductory part of the paper deals with the linguists’ views on the problem of the auxiliary parts of speech and their lexical meaning. Next the close connection of the preposition with the case and all the linguistic construction is presented. In the main part of the paper the author analyses the forming of the meaninng of the constructions, which contain both meanings-notions and meanings-functions. Of the relations characteristic of prepositional constructions those of a preposition with an inflexional ending and, through the ending, with the whole noun and the word which governs the construction have been considered. Both the preposition and the ending participate in the creating of a given construction, but they differ as linguistic units. Therefore the author locates the preposition between the independent words and the morphems.
