dc.description.abstract | The upper Ropa basin is constituted from the deposits of Gorlice zone of Magura nappe. It is featured by a widely
differentiated resistance, from very low (variegated shales) to highly resistant (unseparated Magura layers). In
the tectonics of the area under investigation folded deformations appear which together with longitudinal and
radial dislocations give a number of folded structures with flaked slopes running along NW-SE direction.
Mountain ranges coincide here with the axes of downfolds which are filled by resistant layers, the greater
depressions being formed on anticlines with cores from layers of lower resistance. It is a typical example of an
inversion relief.
When examining the main elements of relief, it may be concluded that the relief of the area under consideration is
principally suited to its resistance. However, zones of a low resistance may be found which appear in relief as
convex forms. This is to be explained by the fact that the relief reflects resistance only in its main outlines.
The occurrence of discordant ridges favours this statement. | en_EN |
