Since the uplift of the Beskidy planation surface, the denudation and erosion have re-modelled the relief to its present condition. Basing upon the hypsographic curve according to A.N. Strahler (1950) the author gives the volume of material which has been removed below the Beskidy planation surface within the mountain part of the Sola basin. The problem which has been discussed lately (Starkel 1950) whether the Sarmatian age is to be atributed to the Beskidy level or to the mountainous level stimulated the author to calculate the amount of material lifted from one sq km of the basin area per year (cu. m) sq km (year) since the uplift of both the surfaces. Having examined both the above-mentioned conceptions, the author concludes that dating the Beskidy surface to Sarmatian is fully justified. Attributing Sarmatian age to the mountainous level would be equivalent to accepting denudation cutting this surface on a level lower than the denudation presently observed in lowland areas. The period from the upper Sarmatian up to present day is so prolonged that as the denudation is known to occur at present in mountain areas (A. Reniger 1957, Jarocki 1957, Mikucki, Wiśniewski 1960, Prochal 1960, Starkel 1960, Ziętara 1968), the relief alterations could not be restricted only to mountainous level cutting and to relief re-modelling to its present condition.en_EN
