The paper presents a new view upon the origin of Pleistocene hills in the northern part of Włoszczowa Downfold, the
hills having been believed earlier to be a ridge of a terminal moraine. The hills run along N-S direction over 10
km approximately. Hill culminations fall from 273 m in the northern part to 246 m above sea level in the southern
part. On the eastern side of the hill range there is a flatness. The hill and the flatness are constituted from
stratified gravels and sands.
The geological structure as well as the relief anable us to classify these hills as a kame bank and two kame
tablelands. The kame terrace is sticked on the kame bank. These forms have been generated during the recession of
the glaciation of Central Poland. A further growing trend of the glacial crevice spread due to a melting process
indicates that during the recession of Central Polish continental glacier the northern part of Włoszczowa Downfold
was covered by a dead ice mass. It is like enough, since in Przedbórz-Małogoszcz range on Radomsko Hills which
surround Włoszczowa Downfold traces of areal deglaciation have been discovered.
