dc.description.abstract | The present information is a review of physical-and economical geography problems as viewed upon by the students of
the Department of Geography of Cracow Paedagogical Institute during their stay in Moscow. The programme of their 3
weeks stay included:
— acquaintance with the organization and course of studies as well as with didactic and educational process at
Geographical and Biological Faculty of Paedagogical Institute;
— visiting industrial and cultural objects and architectural monuments in Moscow, Zagorsk, Kijew and Lwow;
— investigation of scientific and research problems of Geography Departments;
In the report some factors which are most important for a geographer from a cognitive and scientific viewpoint have
been emphasized. Thus a special attention should be paid to University Earth Museum, to the Botanical Garden of
Science Academy of the Soviet Union, to numerous architectural and historical monuments remains, to modern
transport solutions (metro) and finally to the interesting town-planning obviously associated with the relief and
with rivers system. The practice included also a visit to the suburban zone which is an importan constituent of
Moscow agglomeration, because of its numerous functions. An acquaintance with a region featured by different
