The material basis of the paper are idiomatic expressions recorded in Linde's dictionary and including at least one semantic component connected with trade. In original word formation of these expressions old realities and rich trade customs, especially those connected with chaffer and entering into a contract of selling-buying, were fixed. Analyzed idiomatic expressions reflect specificity of the sphere of life they refer to and the variety of associations fixed in them.en_EN
