Podstawowe przemiany szkolnictwa średniego w województwie kieleckim w latach 1918-1939

Abstract

The paper contains an analysis ot the principal changes in the domain of secondary education in the Province of Kielce in 1918—1939 against the background of educational politics and general social-and-political situation of the country. The territory under discussion, formerly a part of the Congress Kingdom of Poland, had been rather neglected in respect of education. Therefore the efforts of the school authorities of that time to change the existing state of affairs and to improve it to the best of their abilities are wholly justified. The author presents the necessary data and figures as well as appropriate legal documents, demonstrates the evolution of the programmes and inner organization of secondary schools. At first he characterizes the school system up to 1932, next — its modifications according to the Jędrzejewicz's law. He has demonstrated in a thorough way, on the base of the careful investigation of the sources, not only a considerably high level of secondary education in the district in question in respect to programmes and inner organization but also its social functions.
