The structure of Diptera larvae groups living in a re-cultivated meadow in Kraków-Zakrzówek was studied between
the years 1995-1998. An increase in abundance and diversity, as confirmed by Shannon index (0,64-0,93), indicates
that the transformation of group structure is a directional process. The trophic structure of the group also
showed directional alterations. In all research periods, saprophagous dipterous larvae were the dominant groups
and their abundance increased from 50% to almost 72%. The contribution of predaceous Dolichopodidae, Empididae,
Rhagionidae, Asilidae and Tabanidae to the total number of dipterous larvae was not regular and varied greatly
(from 1% to 29%). The phytosaprophagous larvae of Limnobiidae, Bibionidae, Tipulidae and Ceratopogonidae were
also very numerous, but their abundance fell in successive years from 48% to 16%.
The changes in total biomass during the research period showed a tendency to balance the participation of all
trophic groups.
