The article concentrates on two issues, which are vital for any academic discipline including political science - the issue of identification and the issue of demarcation. Political science is an academic discipline and knowledge. Its subject matter is politics, and among multiple meanings of the term, two concepts of politics can be distinguished as essential for delimiting its domain. The first one is politics as political activity: ‘Activity laid by the decision centre of a formal social group (organisation) aimed at achieving established goals be defined means’. The second is politics as political relations: ‘Politics is the area of mutual relations and interactions between countries and other organisations which are supportive, conflicting and compromise, and which refer to the objectives and means of a state functions and the nature of national government’. With respect to demarcation, an analytical model was proposed, which was labelled ‘po- litological quadrangle’ and which indicates the relationship between politics and political philosophy on the one hand, and politics and constitutional law, on the other. At the same time the connection between those disciplines and political science is presented from the analytical perspective.en_EN
