dc.description.abstract | Andrzej Bursa’s poems are treated as a document of the political breakthrough in the year 1956. For literature
historians they testify to the revolt against commonly acknowledged social and literary norms. In the research of
his poetiy that was conducted so far, certain key issues were omitted. The poet was against opportunism and he
questioned popular opinions about the artist and art He exposed both national myths and a version of history
promoted by the communist propaganda In Bursa’s poetic vision, the cultural landscape of Krakow plays an
important role. A sentimental and romantic image of the city, literary tradition of the inter-war period and
local customs are all used in order to show this landscape in an intertextual game. The outcoming image is often
that of arcadia, as visible in Pochwala naszych wycieczek, a token of emotional ties with the city and an
affirmative attitude towards its beautiful surroundings. Thus, it appears quite groundless to accuse the
Cracovian poet of revolt or nihilism. | en_EN |
