dc.description.abstractIn the article the author presents his considerations on the subject of changes that took place in the structure of employment in the Polish economy in the years 1997-2002. In the first part the author writes about the theories of A.G.B. Fischer, C. Clark and J. Fourastie, the recognized economists considered to be the initiators of the research into structural changes on the basis of the division of the economy into three sectors. Further on in the article, the author presents the existing trends concerning the changes among persons working in the economic sectors of the selected countries of the Western Europe, and carries out an analysis of employment in the three sectors of the national economy. In the final part of the article factors and conditions necessary for structural transformations to take place in employment are discussed. Particular attention is drawn to the observed trends and future prospects as regards changes in the employment structure in the Polish economy. The article is concluded with the summary of observations on the subject.en_EN
