Metallic glasses, due to their particular properties, belong to a unique and interesting class of materials. This work presents amorphous materials used as components of devices and structures in different shapes, e.g.: bulk, wire, ribbon, as well as other forms. The paper also describes nanociystalline materials for which the amorphous state can be regarded as a precursor structure. The methods of amorphization, general characteristics, applications and essential properties achievable by going to or through the glassy structure are shortly presented.en_EN
