The article is focused on the recent changes of the Slovak Constitution concerning the position of the President of the Republic of Slovakia. The changes were very important: among them was the vital change of the way in which the Slovak President is elected. Those changes were introduced following political and legal conflicts around the position of the President during the so called “Meciarism”, i.e. the period when V. Mecziar was the Slovak prime minister. In this article both contexts: constitutional and political are described.en_EN
