dc.description.abstract | Mean annual temperature of air in the Dobczyce vicinity is about 7,3°C. Mean monthly are below 0° in winter
(December -2,1°C, January -3,6°C, February -3,3°C). Temperatures in summer are above 16°C (June 16,1°, July 16,5°,
August 16,3°). Mean maximum in January are 0,0°C, in July 22,5°C. Mean monthly minimum temperatures, are in January
-7,4°C, in July 11,7°C.
Mean annual precipitation in Dobczyce were 846 mm and 974 mm in Myślenice. The wettest are summer months (July 127
mm and 145), the driest are winter months (January 44 and 41 mm). Precipitation of May-October make 67% and of
June-August 41% of annual precipitation. There are about 174 days with precipitation ≥0,1 mm and 26 days with
precipitation ≥10,0 mm. Precipitation in particular years and especially in summers show great variability. For
instance in Dobczyce in 1959 precipitation was 650 mm and in 1970 - 1118 mm. In July 1964 precipitation was 49 mm,
in July 1970 – 313 mm (2/3 during 3 days). The most intensive, short but heavy can be observed in summer because
that season is the most thunderstormy. Snow cover appears at the end of October and disappears in the middle of
April. There are usually 22 days with snow cover of 23 cm thickness in January.
Air of the region is the humidest in summer. Tension of water vapour in July is 16,1 hPa and in winter months is
about 4,6 hPa. Relative humidity is the greatest in winter (November, December - 84%) and the lowest in spring
(April, May – 75%).
The greatest cloudiness can be noticed from November till February. In December it is about 70%. The smallest
cloudiness is in August (52%) and September (50%). Mean annual is 60 days with cloudiness ≤ 20% and 131 cloudy days
≥ 80%.
The Raba valley influences wind directions. South-western, southern or western winds predominate. Speed of winter
winds is about 2,9 m/sec., in summer 1,6 m/sec. There are also local winds caused by differences in valley bottom
and its slopes heating.
Flow of cold air from the slopes and plateaus causes creation of cold air stagnation and inversion of temperatures.
Minimal inversional disposition takes place during 73%. of days in a year. Mean annual temperature of the valley
bottom is about 1°C lower than on plateaus, mean annual minimum temperature is lower 2 - 3°C and there are also 30
days more with ground frost. During high pressure differences in temperatures (minimum and daily amplitudes) reach
7°C. In the Raba valley in comparison to Pogórze Wielickie plateau, tension of water vapour is higher (the
difference is 0,1 hPa) and relative humidity is greater too (about 0,5%.). At the valley bottom the differences
between day and night period of all humidity elements are the greatest. There can be also noticed radiational
ridges filling the valley to 20 or even 60 m. | en_EN |
