The articleconsiders the origins and functioning of a newspaper that enjoyed considerable popularity on the 19th century press market. The Warsaw Juridical Newspaperplayed a significant role in the history of Polish juridical periodical press. Nowadays, it is said to be an interesting source of information concerning law and the legal profession in the Polish Kingdom and the Second Polish Republic. The starting-point of the deliberations is a thorough outline of the traditions of juridical journalism that originate from ancient civilisations and serve as the basis for conducting a survey of the heritage of Polish juridical periodical press.Successively, The Warsaw Juridical Newspaper becomes the subject of attention. The newspaper assembled the most outstanding representatives of the legal profession and the information published in it showed the changes that took place in the juridical area on the turn of the 19th century. The topical evolution of the newspaper was parallel to the current political situation in Poland: during the partitions this weekly aimed at awakening political awareness of Polish people, whereas in the age of independent Poland, journalists and writers who cooperated with the newspaper actively participated in the creation of legal structures for the sovereign society.
