In the article were presented the results of the analyses devoted to comparison of the
costs of heating the residential buildings, taking into consideration fuel oil, natural gas, hard
coal, fuel wood, heat from MPEC and electric energy in the II tariff. The calculations were
made on the basis of the cost of investment in the devices, the cost of energy carriers and the
operation period of the devices.
Apart from the economy, the second relevant factor determining the utilization of the
considered energy carriers should be ecology. In the case of heating the residential buildings
with fuel oil, natural gas, hard coal and fuel wood one could easily calculate the volume of
emission. It’s much more difficult to define the influence of heat from MPEC and electric
energy on the environment, because it will depend on, among others, the kind of carrier used
at their production.
