Streszczenie
The topical image of the “knight without blemish” appeared and was consolidated in the Middle Ages. It was introduced to literature from the Arthurian legends to the fantasy genre. Adaś Kalinowski – the main character of the short story W obronie gniazda in the historical novel by Helena Zakrzewska titled Dzieci Lwowa – followed the lead of the mythologized Prince Józef Poniatowski, defends bravely his hometown and dies for the motherland – just like the hero.
