An important, but underestimated method of teaching geographic themes in elementary and
junior high schools are strolls, organized on didactic routes appointed near schools. They
enable merging the knowledge on multiple topics, show its application in practice, and
enables expanding students’ interests. The project of a didactic route created for Zalas shows
the possibilities of using local potential to teach geography, with special consideration of
human activities. Usage of students’ closest neighbourhood as an example during the teaching
process may have positive influence on the behaviour and value system of the young people,
which will find reflection in their further life.
