Abstract

The term “jihad” is currently doing a great career. It has long ceased to be just a Islam theology concept and is already widely used in political science or even security science. From this word were created such as jihadist, jihadism, etc. At the same time, terms such Islamic fundamentalism, Islamic extremism, Islamic terrorism or Islamism are often used interchangeably. The aim of the article is to reflect on the essence of jihad, its understanding. If it is correct to speak about “jihad ideology” or better about “Islamism”?
