Abstract

The article presents the factors which have influence on the choice of a professional career, showing their significance for personal safety. The main attention is focused on the characteristics of selected theoretical positions of a professional career (including theory of traits and factors, psychoanalytic and development theories). In the context of considerations, it turns out that this subject is a very interesting problem resulting from the dynamics of contemporary world and changes taking place on the labor market. The specificity of these transformations encourages permanent reflection on the course of a person’s professional development and seeking factors conditioning a sense of security.
