dc.description.abstractThe task of this essay is to scrutinize of possibilities of a visual artist to express his attitude toward difficult social problems that appeared in Silesia after revitalization and deindustrialization of this region. The subject of the article is are activities of two artists linked to the region: Mona Tusz (a muralist, present in the public space of Silesia since 2007) and Arkadiusz Gola (a photographer from Zabrze). Both artists tend to sustain and create the Silesian environment using strategies of participation-both of them are engaged in particular situations regarding local communities. The author of the essay claims that artistic activity and usage of visual language may provide real changes in social mentality and help to save postindustrial landscape.en
