The article presents the origin of technical education in Poland starting with the oldest traces
of human activity in our country. It has been highlighted that such traces go 120 thousand
years back, when the mankind was still very primitive. The role of the Commission of National
Education in the development of education in Poland has also been presented as well as the
importance of slojd in technical education.
