Laser beam as a source of energy with it specific characteristics give opportunity to be widely
used in material processing. In this work, the basis of techniques used for material properties
enhancement by mean of wear, hardness, friction coefficient, high temperature, corrosion
and erosion resistances are presented, realized by surface modification (glazing, surface
hardening, amorphysation, schock hardening, alloying, cladding) or coating (pulsed laser
ablation).
