The paper presents a brief history of the development of biology teaching in Poland. It dates back to the eighteenth century, when the first books were written. Krzysztof Kluk, naturalist and breeder, published the book “Botany for National Schools.” Then came the teaching of science with “Principles of the Methodology of Natural Sciences” by Maximilian Heilpern. Further, the article demonstrates the changes that had to take place in teaching due to the introduction of new educational reforms. The changes were also noted in the current tasks of training teachers and preparing them for the new requirements contained in the core curriculum.en
